Surely a later version would be better, such as 6.22 and it does not have to be compaq.
Or is there a reason I am unaware of.
Good luck - keep us posted.

I've got MS dos 5 on my desk pro 286/n and it works fine.
Takes up less room than later versions.

I know, but I want to have it in its original condition and it came with a 360Kb disk with the Compaq DOS system files and a CMOS setup utility, so I suppose that that was their original OS.
Thanks a lot.

You can install the utilities and setup files on DOS 6.22 with no problem, or even Windows. They have versions for nearly every OS from DOS to XP.

You wouldn't happen to have an old Luggable would you? Kinda looks like a suitcase with dual 360k drives?
You may be in luck if you haven't already found a dos disk for it.
I have one with manual and disk I tried using other new DOS and it just wouldn't work it has a nice small green phosphor monitor with power cable I use it for some word processing and programming.
If you need the dos and can't or haven't found it write me back and I will break out trusty dusty 486 and zip a copy 4 U.
