Looking for the HIMEM.exe file (not himem.sys). Trying to install Win3.1 and ran across MS Q81710 at Microsoft site:

I don't know enough about this to be contributing, but I was wondering whether HIMEM.SYS for MS.DOS 5 or 6.00 would work. Obviously the Himem.sys that counts extenced memory will balk when none is there, but these earlier versions do not do that. You are probably right that you need HIMEM.EXE, but there was usually some backward compatibility.

thats what he had been trying, dos 6.0 (i believe) and 6.22, and it would tell him that he has no extended memory. even xmsmmgr.exe from windows 3.1x (which setup loads, when you run setup without an xms manager loaded) also didn't work. i dubt, ibm pc dos 7's himem.sys will work its possible that a win9x himem.sys may work, im not sure if he had tested that yet (As per my email i sent him) its a very hard find though, as himem.exe is also a patch for an osr2 himem.sys (not known if that patch is official, or just for use with a dual boot win3.x/msdos7, with win9x) himem.exe is listed on the support site (above) for the compaq 286 computer. this is a very strange issue though. =)

Crutch, I was able to locate a Compaq utility disk with HIMEM.exe on it. Check your email
Summary: Ok.. i did manage to get the 'If Exist' command to work, the reason it wasnt working was because I did not have the full path to the file. Once i wrote the full path, it worked great. Now i did invoke...
Summary: i cant open received exe files via icq and so do my friends who cant open exe files that i sent to them through icq anyone please tell my why?is there any special files needed in this case?...
