i need to know how to correctly replace the cmos battery. the last time i did this, i completely tore off the metal thing that holds the battery in place. i thought that part snaps open and snaps back in place. it didn't. thanks.
What I do is try to slide the lithium cell out, in the direction the spring points, lifting the spring only a bit. Careful use of a tiny screwdriver helps. The new one slides in and pops into place.
