Changing COM PORTS for CARD READER

Hi, I need help changing my com settings in autoexec.bat. I have a card reader and a board that goes into my satallite plugged into COM 3 and 4 respectively. I went to the Bios and changed the settings to 3 and 4, but it didn't work. I simply want to boot up in DOS and run an autoecec file off a disk to run my satallite. I can't change the card reader and board to com1 and com2 because com1 is an old mouse, not a PCI slot. Can anyone suggest any coding for my autoexec file, or any other tips. Thanks

Surely the mode command allows this, and can be used anytime not just on power on. Occasionally I have to connect up another printer to a different port, and then run a batch file which swops LPT and COM ports. Once finished I have another batch file to reverse this. Good luck - keep us posted.

If you don't need the mouse, just goto BIOS and disable COM1 and COM2 on motherboard.
There should not be any conflicts and your COM3 and COM4 should work.
Remember COM1 and COM3 share INT4 and COM2 and COM4 share INT3
