Hi
I am running DOS version 6.22. I have a strange question, but please bear with me.
I am using the PFS Pro-file program. When you use the program to display the directory it will will display work files and program files in no particular order. What I would like to do is list the work files then the program files. The display in PFS lists the files exactly like it does in dos when you use the directory command.
So I am thinking if there is a way to permanetly change the display order in DOS, it will cnage the display in PFS which is what I want. I have tried using the dosshell program but for some reason it won't display properly.
Any help greatly appreciated

You can change or set the dircmd variable, either from the command line or from autoexec.bat:
set dircmd= /o:e
for example would sort by extension, as would dir /o:e (setting the variable makes it the 'default')Try dir /? for more info
If you're having problems with dosshell, chances are you may have the wrong dosshell.vid or dosshell.grb installed - still, settings made under dosshell only affect dosshell - not DOS.

I have never worked with this program so I may be wrong however:
Try saving work files to a differant directory from the program files
i.e.
C:\PFS & C:\PFS\WORK
and remember to change directory when you save files.
