There is no M$-DOS in XP what you have is COMMAND PROMPT, M$-DOS is an emulation.

In any event, when I run a batch file it is not centered on the screen. Is there a way (through) the batch file to do this?

you can set in the properties of the shell (press ALT-SPACE to drop down the menu) the position of the window. there are 2 options at LAYOUT

1st: let system set the position (its default)

2nd: define a position -> move the shell in the middle, open properties/layout, deactivate the 1st option, press ok and save "to all future.."
