cdrom not working

i have a dell latitude xp4100cx laptop.
i was trying to reinstall windows 95 but forgot my pcmcia cdrom needed windows to operate. so i formatted my hard drive now i cant get my laptop to read my cdrom drive.
i've been playing with my config and auto. i've got the cd to power up and read but my computer doesnt recognize its there. please help me.it has a message that no card service something.

The pcmcia device did not come with the notebook (took me ten minutes to find out), so the make of the notebook is pretty much useless information. I need to know the make and model of the pcmcia device -- it's printed on the label.
