Hi, doe's anybody knows about some kind of MSCDEX replacement which support UFD? I'd like to read my DVD-RAM media formatted in UDF also under DOS.

The only MS-DOS and compatibles software which handles CDRW is:

The MSCDEX just identifies that an optical drive is present, not what it is actually capable of. You seem to be in Windows Mode, you need a different approach with DOS.

Thanx, I downloaded DOSCDRoast package and found that it contains Matsus---a DVD driver with MKECDEX.COM which should add UDF extension to MSDEX. But unfortunately it doesn't wotk. Driver loaded sucessfully but UDF 1.5 media in drive is still unreadable :(
Is there any other driver?

It would appear that MKECDEX.COM is for DVD ROM Drives, which is a fairly universla standard.
DVD-RAM is a different type of Drive completely, you may have more luck using ISO9600 format, though everything I have read states W9x and later for DVD-RAM..

The actual media is transparent, what you need is a device driver to inform DOS that you have a drive present....

This is done via DVD-ROM/CD-ROM SYS driver loaded in config.sys. I think it would be some replacement or extension of MSCDEX. Again, I don't need writting, just reading...

Hey RayeR, any luck? I'm having the same problem... trying to read a DVD+RW disk in DOS. I'm beginning to think it's not possible... which is utterly ridiculous, considering what a simple situation this is.
