Received a pc from someone but needed to install DOS 6.22. Would like to install windows95 but I cannot access the cd rom. Was told I needed to load the driver for the cd. How do I go about doing this?

The cd-rom should come with a 3.5 floppy disk... If not, go to the cd-rom manufacture web-site... I just hooked up my first scsi cd-rom drive yesterday and was realy hard, because the controller was not installed... But, if you want, give me the cd-rom name and model and give me your e-mail address so i can send you the drivers...

I have the driver for the cd rom it's listed but I do not know how to load, install etc. in DOS. Do I edit the config.sys file, autoexec.bat file? How do I load this driver? I was told to look for a file named Mscdex and to load the driver but I'm stuck. Would appreciate your help. Thanks

You would have to edit both autoexec.bat and config.sys. But there are different connfigurations. If you tell me if it is ide or scsi, i can help. I just installed a scsi cd drive yesterday, just tell me if it is ide or scsi.

I'm not sure about ide or scsi still a novice at this. Look at setup and saw a list of ide adapters. The two letters for drives that i have is of course c & a. I believe this drive should be D. Thanks for the help
