I purchased the Adaptec APA-1460D SCSI adapter PCMCIA card for my Dell Inspiron 7500 Laptop. Now I find out I need to get the "card Service and Socket drivers" for it, in order for the adaptec drivers to work in DOS. In other words my PCMCIA card will not work until I execute the drivers for the Intel 82365 PCMCIA controller chip.

Does anyone have a generic set of drivers for this. Or lead me to the right direction.

I have searched the web over and over.
I found third-party vendors that offer DOS card and socket services software who are SystemSoft, Phoenix Technologies, and Databook. They all tend to charge for these drivers.

I also read some stuff about "enablers" may do the job to and then you may not need any generic set of card and socket service drivers.

Thanks for reading my POST.

This will be for DOS of course.

You're sure there were no drivers for PCMCIA with the Adeptec controller? I would check their website before I bought anything.

I have the driver for the card. BUT not for the card services. THe PCMCIA slot bridge. They do not support that which in my opinion is rediculous. But there are too may manufactures and modles of the card services Bus.

No they do not supply the low level drivers for card services.

Sounds crazy ha. They sell that card specificlaly for 16 bit and DOS and yet it will nto run on a PCMCIA without the card service drivers. Its really crazy if you ask me.!!!

Go to driverguide.com and search for cardsoft. They have a couple listings. Click on member login; user=drivers; password=all.

Visit Driverguide.com as spot surgests, but you may have more luck if you seach for a Dell Driver than Cardsoft as they are hard to find. Cardsoft wrote drivers for many laptops that work on with that model of controller. So track down the Dell driver set.

I check DElls' Web site and they do not offer a driver for DOS. Its unsupported as they say.

No DOS card services nor Socket drivers are supported but they do say in theor knowledge base to go to third party vnedors liek cardsoft phoenix and databook I believe.

Cardosft does have a 5x version that does support my TI1250 chipset but they want $69 dollars and they are discontinued but still selling the product.

carzy ha?

Thanks

Have same problem. Have Dell Latitude CSx. Need to boot into DOS to create Ghost or Partitionmagic drive image. Dell Tech Support says "We don't have the Card & Socket Services available". Device Manager indicates that PCMCIA socket is made by Texas Instruments, but haven't had luck finding the software on their site.

Damn SystemSoft!
They have prohibited others from providing their old drivers such as DOS driver on websites, and are selling them at $69.95!!!
