Can't write to C drive??

Hi
I have an older 386 i get a meesage that says can't write to c drive. This happens in dos as well as windows 3.1. Anybody know whats wrong???

Hi,

I think there are two posibilities. Either you have bad clusters on your drive or you have no free space on it. If you have bad clusters run Scandisk and perform surface scan. Scandisk will mark bad clusters and your programs will not attempt to write to them anymore. If you have no free space on the drive remove some unnecessary programs and/or data files.

actually another problem is that you may have too many files in the one directory typically the root.

take a look if igors advice didn't pan out

It sounds like you need to do a surface scan on the drive.....it will have problems if there are bad clusters on that drive
