Please help,
when I try and run the DOS prompt from my desktop I get the message: 'This program cannot run in a window because of the way it uses the display...' when I press ALT+ENTER I get another message : 'cannot switch to a full-screen while text is selected or scroll command is active etc' Pressing ESC has no effect, and I can only exit the window using CTRL+ALT+DEL
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try pressing scroll lock if it isn't already pressed, a light should go on on your keyboard, or try: (Windows 9x)
Start Menu, Programs, MS-DOS Prompt
(Windows ME)
Start Menu, Programs, Accessories, MS-DOS Prompt
(Windows 3.1, i'm not 100% sure with this)
Main Program Group
MS-DOS Prompt
Although your problem may just be some kind of corrupt file. Try calling tech support, if this information didn't help, which I hope ANY bit of it did.

Right-click the Icon for Dos prompt and choose properties. Choose the Screen tab and change the radio button from Window to Full Screen.
