cant get into dos

all i get is invalid disk, and when i try a boot disk i o/i error, i can get into setup bois and that, but, how do i get into dos to format? thanks jeff

There is no DOS at all in Windows 2K/XP; what you see at the so called DOS prompt is an emulated window managed by NTVDM Virtual DOS Machine.
And if that does not suffice, the file system is likely to be NTFS, unsupported by previous DOS/Windows systems.
So whatever you plan to do with your boot diskette is dangerous for the system and not suited for that kind of environment.

You can make a set of install floppies from the Windows 2000 CD, there is no boot floppy as such, that is for M$-DOS based Windows, not the NT based Windows.

well lots to learn, thank you guys, i think i forgot to mention i cant get into win2000 either. and it only makes it though the 3rd of set of 4 install disks that was the frist thing i tryed, id i bugger up the pc? jeff
