But are they the right way round? Check that cable at both ends match Pin 1 - The ribbon cable should have a red mark along the pin 1 side!

hi! have you tried another lead at all and is cd-rom even lighting up ?If it is lighting up and make a spining noise then i think it is still ok > BUT if it does not a do anything it may be damaged ok.If it proves to be fine then i suggest you go to a computer store and see if they can give you a cd-rom driver disc > it should do the trick if cd-rom is still good ! Hope this helps> it always does the job for me .
