ok- heres the deal...
i have an old compaq model 4/50(486 dx2 50mhz). I want to put a cd-rom on it, i have installed the cd-rom. The thing is, in the bios there is no place to select the cd-rom as a secondary disk. my biggest problem is this- i have the computer partitioned and formated under win98. i need to put win95 or 98 on it. but i cant do it without the cd-rom working on bootup. I have the following software if it helps; win 3.1; win3.11 for workgroups; dos 6.0; dos 6.22; win95; win98.-one other problem is this- the disk for the cd-rom came with a setup program that only works in windows, i tryed installing win 3.1 so i could run the setup program- the nstall went great but now the computer doesnt boot up with a dos or 6.22 bootup disk- without the dos disk it gives me an error with the win98 version of dos
PLEASE HELP!!!
thanx

Justin, if your cd-rom is atapi all you need to do is get a win98 startup disk with cd-rom support on it. Boot up with that startup disk and answer yes for cd-rom support. You will then be able to access the cd-rom. I'm not sure if this will work with a non atapi cd-rom or not. Good luck.
Steve.
