I have a bootable DOS 7.10 on a jumpdrive and I want to change the colors of the prompt. I have this in my batch file:
PROMPT $c: = Shows <: at prompt
COLOR 0a = BLACK BACKGROUND GREEN TEXT
Does anyone know where to find the COLOR program? I searched on my computers but cant find it, and the web...
is it COLOR.EXE, COLOR.COM or COLOR.BAT?
I have searched for all extensions but cant find the app that changes colors..
Anyone have this one?Curiousity only injured the cat.
I finished it off..
Muahahaha...

I don't think there is any COLOR in DOS 7.10, or ant other MSDOS.
You will likely need to load ansi.sys and use ESC sequences in your BAT.
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Sending SA.COM to ease the pain, yet as Mechanix2Go says, you do need to load ansi.sys in config.sys.

Im talking about the actual program.
I already know how to use it..Curiousity only injured the cat.

Well, gee. If you'd READ any of that which I posted, you'd KNOW what the program is.
EVERY DOS "program", except for the so called internal commands, are a file, such as format.com, or xxx.exe. If you read the help file, you'll know what the program "is", is.
Also, since it seems a little unclear exactly what you are running, IE a hacked up version of DOS, you may not HAVE the file you need on there. If, for example, you had a properly installed version of DOS 6.22, it would be there by virtue of the installer process.Since you are running some hacked dealie, none of us here have any way to know what files you actually have on your drive.

Probably it is NT COMMAND PROMPT !!! seeing as it is a P4/256MB, and trying to run the COMMAND from a W9x Boot Disk

FYI NT COMMAND PROMPT is not a seperate O/S

Yes it would appear that COLOR is an NT COMMAND PROMPT syntax, so no can not use as said above in WinDOS/MS-DOS:
http://www.ss64.com/nt/color.html
In true MS-DOS6 + MENUCOLOR= is used in CONFIG.SYS:http://www.nukesoft.co.uk/msdos/command.php?id=67

If you are in fact using MS-DOS6... (no official version 7.10) then ANSI.SYS is the right choice:
