I just formated my hard disk and installed DOS but I cannot access my cd-rom drive or cdr. Unless I use a windows 98 startup disk, wich I did to install windows 3.1 But booting from that disk I can not run windows 3.1 wich means that I cannot upgrade it to windows98. And as I said previously normal booting I can not access the cd-rom but I can run Windows 3.1 that also has no access to my cd-rom.

Hi You need to load a cd-rom dos-driver in your config.sys and autoexec.bat. Take a look in these two files on the Win98 boot-disk, add what you need, and copy the drivers to your HD.
Any questions, send me a mail.

All you need is a standard ATAPI cd device driver which you will find easy enough on the web.
