Is there any possible way to get this model printer working in pure DOS 6.22?
I mean like in DOS programs such as lotus works 3.0 and stuff. I remember back in the days of dot-matrix printers how some printers could run on EPSON or IBM protocoled drivers, thought my printer could do the same but not nescessarily with these.
I have had my printer working on older drivers such as the BJC-210, but thats no doubt cos its pretty much the same printer...
Any ideas?

No. Ink jet printer drivers require too much memory (several MB) to build a page image, plus the code is too big to run under Pure DOS. The only thing you can do is print from DOS to a disk file. Then later from Windows, access and print the files.
Older printers were Line printers. Only had to have one line ready at a time. The InkJet and laser printers are page printers.
HP got around it with PCL5 for the high end laser printers, but that does not work for most InkJet printers. Some high end InkJet printers support PCL5 and PCL6 (Printer Control Language v5) and if you had a program that outputs in PCL5 and the printer had a parallel interface, then it might be possible. But the lowest cost printers with PCL5 built into the hardware cost over $400.
While it is technically possible (with enough memory) to do from DOS, there is no market for the expense of developing such drivers. And there would not be much memory available to run programs. (This assumes a parallel printer interface attachment. USB only makes the lack of memory worse, as you would also have to have USB drivers.)

Whilst I take on board JackG's advice, it should be remembered that generally each dos application came with its own (often large) set of printer drivers.
It could be that a driver exists for the printer concerned or an older model of inkjet that is emulated/supported by the new. Suggest searching the web and/or with a more specialised group such as the lotus users, or similar. e.g. Wordstar drivers are available for laser printers.
Good luck - Keep us posted.

I have given up on this printer in DOS project, had no luck.
However, with Arachne i was surfing the internet on this machine :-P (286/16mhz). If anyone is interested, contact me for a photo of it surfin the net.
