Comment:
Hi, is there any program that will get the caller ID information from the telephone line and display it on the screen? (My caller ID is activated) I have an internal modem that works fine on COM2.

The next thing you need to verify is whether your modem supports caller id. Seach google for caller id. There are a few sites that have a test program for the modem. Otherwise check your moden's manual.

If you only need to display the information on the screen, all you need is a terminal program. Just open com2 and wait for input. You may have to set it for 1200 baud to match the callerid output of the modem.
You can write a similar program in QBASIC.

YES, I know that! I guess I should have clarified. I mean could someone help or tell me where to find the QBASIC program because I have little experience with writing them. Or at least get me started.

.. kinda doubt you'll be initially successful if you are only now aware of the concept.
As already mentioned, it should be part of your DOS install - it's what runs that version of DOS Edit and the excellent 'Help' interface.
Once you manage to find the application - next stop -> programming

In place of programming may I recommend letting your fingers do the walking.
Google - caller id dos
http://www.filelibrary.com/Contents/DOS/2/6.html - prg 213 to enable your modem. prg 217 to display te caller id.
Caller ID - http://www.modem-help.co.uk/help/clid.html - has a good example of using a terminal program to test and do caller id.
I didn't give a basic example since I don't have a modem on this computer. (wireless lan) Using a terminal program with an initialization string to enable the modem is what I would do, to save the calls turn logging on.

Well I dug out my old copy of QuickFax II and entered the command AT#CID=1. The caller's name, the date and the time now show up on the screen. Thanks
