In oder to boot in DOS you need to HAVE DOS.

You can install DOS first, then XP; which will give you a dual boot.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I do have DOS. While booting up and before the screen shows 'Windows' by pressing one of the F keys should open. I just need to change a setting there as i can't do that otherwise.

Thank you again

I think you need F8.

F8 will display the various XP options - and in fact that message is displayed at boot time

sighs... there is no DOS in XP, mm'kay? XP/NT provides a command line MS-DOS *emulation*

Hi jboy,

Yeah, I didn't say he had DOS. He said he had DOS.

We'll see.

You need to install DOS on the c-drive, which should be FAT16. Then, use something like bootpart.exe from http://www.winimage.com to make the boot sector, and the proggie will install it into the boot.ini too.
