Hello to everyone the question that I have is how to construct a bootable DVD for Symantic ghost 2003.
I have created a bootable DVD in the past but it always ended at the A:\ prompt, actually this configuration worked pretty good it's just it ended at A:\ prompt. Is there a way to assign the CD-ROM drive X, instead of the letter D. So that the outcome is I reboot the computer select boot from CD or DVD drive and instead of ending at the A:\ prompt it ends at the X drive letter where I can use the DIR command to view the DVD contents.
The files that I'm using to create this bootable DVD are from bootdisk.com using the image from a Windows 98 boot floppy and then using Nero to burn this to DVD.
Thank you for any help and or suggestions.

When creating the bootable CD/DVD, you normally have to use a floppy boot image for the CD/DVD boot sector.
All the other programs like ghost or whatever, should be stored at the normal CD/DVD data section. In the floppy boot image, you have to use a CD/DVD dos driver, to get access to the CD/DVD.
In config.sys, use the following command:device=a:\cdromdriver.sys /d:cddrive01
In the autoexec.bat use the following command:
a:\mscdex.exe /d:cddrive01 /L:x
(where x is the driveletter, you want to assign)Burn the CD an try switching to your CD/DVD by
x:Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
