Terry, you know to access the BIOS you dont even need a hard drive? Usually you hit a button after POST (something like F8 or F10 or Ctrl + Alt + Esc). Try that first.

He needs to UPDATE the Bios. To do this you DO NOT enter the Bios.

Most BIOS updates that you download are FLASH updates, You create a Bootdisk from the download, then boot and update your BIOS from that disk in one single action.
What Dex M says is half right. You do not need a Hard drive, But you do need a bootable Floppy Drive. So check that your boot order is A - C or something like that before you start.

Just format a floppy within XP and make the disk a MS-DOS startup disk. Right click on the drive icon for A: (or whatever your floppy drive is) choose format and tick the box for the startup disk. You'll then have to copy the BIOS rom and flah util to the same drive.

Summary: I was hoping someone would say that, Mr. O. You can't boot to real Dos on a machine that has WIN9x installed by pressing F8. You get "dos emulated mode" which is WIN9x without the GUI. Loading DOS 6.2...
Summary: I need to put real dos on xp since i cant do somethings i prefer to do...if you dont know xp just has a cover of dos..its not even real..any one know where i can a real dos to put on my XP? ...
