Hi ..
I have a question that I cannot answer. I have the three DOS disks in three different folders on my hard drive. If I copy disk1 to a blank floppy, it will not boot because the boot sector is empty. How do I make the first DOS disk bootable without using any windows 98 system files ?
Basically I need to know how to put the Command.com io.sys msdos.sys and drvspace.bin files into the boot sector and make it boot using the original DOS 6.22 files.

Reply:
the bootsector routine searches for io.sys and wants it as first file on the disk
so the first fist file on the disk for dos must be io.sys then you can copy the others on the disk

The copy command doesn't copy ALL the files on the disk, you have to use XCOPY. To copy the System files just type sys a:( press the enter key)

i think his problem is that he boots with another dos version -> sys would create a bootdisk for the current version
to unhide the io.sys and msdos.sys you can use attrib -r -s -h *.*

Goto my Bootdisk project page and download the image of whatever DOS version you need. Read the instructions on the page on how to re-create your boot disk.
Once that is done you can copy the rest of your files onto the disk.
