Reply: (edit)Simple answer here is that Windows XP is NT based and not DOS based. It only emulates DOS. If you want to re-format your harddrive to DOS you need a true MS-DOS bootdisk. Such as the Windows 98 (WinDOS 7.10) bootdisk. Whay as a matter of interest do you wish to format your harddrive, and what do you intend to replace it with? If you tell us someone may have a better reply for you.

Reply: (edit)I assume from your "tone" that you are trying to install or reinstall XP or NT. In EITHER case you do not want to use DOS or any form of it or ask in this forum. You need to go to the XP or NT forum. It is a COMPLETELY different operating system, as different as gasoline is from diesel.
