I have a old IBM C1.10 pc that i am pulling apart and putting back togeather for fun, problem just now is i can't boot to Dos. I seem to have deactivated the only partion on C: . I I've tried MS dos bootdisks, Seagate Diskwizard, trying to reload IBM Dos 4.00 but nothing seems to work to even start up in dos, i get messages that it can't find an operating system on c: . What I get up now on startup is a table of 12 F-keys at the bottem of the screen with a blinking F1. Any help would be apprecciated. I like to try and install Win 3.1 after this is sorted out. and use this puter as a firewall.

Try pressing down both buttons on your mouse @ the same time, while your cold booting. This should get you into cmos, and give you a dos prompt.

Holding down mouse buttons didn't work, I still get the message, "operating system dosn't have an active partition on Disk 1".
I must need to activate Disk 1 but i need to get into Dos first..

Hi Depending on the model (8525 through 8590 and 95XX models} you might need to go to IBM and download a REFERENCE DISK for your particular model computer. When you get to the screen with the picture of the floppy put the disk in and hit F1. Then follow instructions to reset the CMOS. The disk will be an exe. file you need to run to a formatted floppy before attempting to use it. It will not work in downloaded form. Good Luck james
