Comment:

I am in need of a Boot Disk for an IBM PS/2 Model 30 8530. The built in drive is only 720kb. The diagnostic disk runs fine but I have been unable to get anything to boot to the command prompt. When I try to boot to the C drive, I get an error message that the Command Com has a problem. The computer freezes there. I need to be able to get into the computer and see just what the problem is. Thanks in advance CJ

You can make a boot disk, it might work with a HD disk.

From another PC running Win9x/ME, put in a disk and go to a DOS prompt. Type this:

FORMAT A: /F:720 /S

This will format the disk as 720KB. It sounds like the Command.com and/or root directory got erased on the Mod30. Maybe try to copy the command.com from C:\DOS and reboot it if you get in with the boot disk.

Don't copy command.com from the boot disk, not the right version eh?
