I recently got an old monitor from my friend for one of my old compters. I plugged it in and it works but is very blurry. I adjust all the nobs but still isnt near clear. Anybody know what I can do to fix it.

The cable is missing some pins in the back could that be whats causing this? Thanks

The missing pins don't matter here. You won't see many monitor cables that have all 15 pins.

It is probably a matter of age. You can try to degaus it, if it has the feature but I am guessing it has seen too may websites.

In my neck of the woods I can buy a used 14" SVGA monitor for $35, so the monitor repair shop is not really a cost effective idea.

Try going to www.google.com and type "blurry monitor" (with the quotes). You will find a lot of other people trying to fix the same problem.

There should be master focus and brightness controls inside... but it's a dangerous place to tinker 10 - 20,000 volts (even unplugged)
