My system:
AMD k6-2 550
Win 98
64mb Ram
WD 10 GB Hdd
Matsonic MB MS6261
Award BIOS v4.51PG, Award Bios Extension v1.0A

Everything was fine a few days ago, I tried install another 4.g HDD, Bios saw it but Windows did not recognize it. I shut down as normal and rebooted, now the problem.
Now it comes up with the RAM a few lines then it stops. I can only get into setup by rebooting and pressing the DEL key repeatedly to get to setup fast enough.
In setup my HDD are not there, the auto IDE is blank and does'nt attempt to find a HD. I have taken off the other HD 4.3g and tried to install the 10g manually, still nogo.
I have verified jumpers, reseated cables, verified MB jumpers. What can I do next?

Thanx,
LaMar

did you format the drive before you loaded windows?, as this could be why it didnt detect it.
plug in only the newer hd and boot from a boot disk. use this to format the hd.

I have reset the bios to default; the hd already had Win98; I put in another hd that I pulled from another computer, still no IDE detection; computer will not go far enough to find the fdd.

The screen comes up like and shows this:

MS 6261 ver1.4
Award Bios v4.51PG
Award Bios Extension v1.0A
11/24/99-Aladdin5-2A5KKTJ96-00

It does recognize my ram in the process, the hdd attempts to turn then stops. I have tried three different hdd. Any help will be appreciated.

Check your cable. You can partially pull it out disconnecting the drive.

Good luck, Igor

I've tried everything you guys suggested and them some. I am sending the MB back to the dealer who will fix or replace it. Even they have no clue to why it is acting strange.
Thanks for all your help
