You might try the instuctions here for a failed bios flash:

Might be worth a shot. Of course, if it doesn't work, you shouldn't need a new motherboard, just a new bios.

Thanks, however,I cant get anything to show up on the computer. The monitor doesn't start, keyboard doesnt start. It makes noise but doesn't respond to anything. I have all the A7V Bios up to 1010, however I cant get computer to even boot up to try installing another so I'm come to the conclusion that the computer is brain dead and I need to replace the motherboard or else it will never start up again. I'm not technical so I cant go in to the computer to fix the problem. I was reading on two or three sites that the computer will NEVER start again. But u guys/gals on here seems to know more so I thought to get your openions first before I go buy another motherboard.

Tried flashing again?

Also replacing the bios should do the trick also. As the bios is just on a replacable chip.

To flash a BIOS you need to boot into the system - To boot into the system you need a BIOS

Now just try and obtian the correct BIOS chip - Not easy. Best thing to do is seek professional help. They may be able to access BIOS for you. Ask the cost. What is cheeper New Card or Fix? Me I would go for new card.

Next time keep well away from controls when doing this very dangerous task. Not dangerous you say! Tell that to Travis Langston

If i want to create partitions with fdisk/mbr, then exit (can't crerate).

Or did i do something wrong with fdisk?

Same thing happened to me. I was using the asusupgrade windows utility. I tried flashing by a7v up to 1010. It failed, so I reverted back to 1004. Everything seemed to be going fine until I rebooted. Then nada! Dug around asus's site. Check out http://usa.asus.com/inside/Techref/bios-flash.html for instructions on how to get a new BIOS chip for $25.

Well, I have some good news for you. Your computer IS NOT DEAD! I have been there where you are now and you have two options:
1) Buy a new BIOS chip from the motherboard manufacturer (it is very cheap, but sometimes EXTREMELY hard to find and can take months!).
2) Do what I did when the installation of Windows rendered my BIOS and computer useless last summer (Windows 95 can KILL your ABIT computer!):

1. You probably have an old worthless pentium lying somewhere, right? Get one.
2. Remove BIOS chip of your dead computer. It is now called BIOS#1.
3. Open the case of your old pentium. Remove BIOS chip of your old pentium. It is now called BIOS#2.
4. Put a small plastic strap under the BIOS#2 chip and re-install it on the old pentium motherboard. Push it firmly, so it's barely there. You should now have that tiny plastic strap in between the BIOS#2 chip and the old pentium motherboard. The idea is that you can pull the plastic strap and thus remove the BIOS chip "on the fly" when your old pentium is powered on.
5. Download a software called "UNIFLASH" or "UNIFLASHER". It's a BIOS flashing utility that should work on all Pentiums.
6. Download the new BIOS for your dead computer.
7. Power up your old pentium and boot up to dos.
8. When DOS is completely loaded, the magic part begins: PULL THE PLASTIC STRAP SO THAT YOU REMOVE BIOS#2 WHILE THE COMPUTER IS ON!!
9. Carefully install BIOS#1 (BIOS chip of your dead computer) on the motherboard of your old pentium!! Push it so that it's just firmly there.
10. Use the UNIFLASHer program to flash your DEAD BIOS!! Once completed, power off your old pentium.
11. Remove the BIOS#1 chip from your old pentium and install it on your dead computer.
12. Power up your DEAD computer and... RESURRECTION!!!!!!!!!!! Your computer is alive again!!

I cannot tell you how happy I was when I managed to bring my computer back alive from the death last summer! I had just bought it and was installing the OS for the first time when it died.
