Before posting a new thread, please make sure your question is not already answered! Please look at this thread (dated: 11/21/2003, that is, a week ago only!)
http://www.computing.net/dos/wwwboard/forum/14210.html
And do NOT post the same or similar topic twice or more in this forum:
http://www.computing.net/dos/wwwboard/forum/14246.html
Also, you may try post it on the WinXP forum instead of the DOS forum, because WinXP has no DOS at all.

I appreciate the response. I did in fact view #14210 prior to posting and inferred, by the TCL referral, that batch was not a viable solution (but nevertheless, wanted to verify this). I have scoured the web for some time in search of a definitive answer...the fact that the results of a Google search on the topic lead with a link to my [unanswered] post in this forum (#14246) would suggest a lack of publicly available knowledge on the subject (which is, admittedly, perhaps due to lack of public inquiry). I have been relatively successful in using Perl to meet my needs, but was just wondering if it was possible to automate the telnet login process via batch. My apologies to all for posting multiple times on the same subject...JRM

I would suggest the webmaster of Computing.Net to make a seperate "Win32 (i.e. WinNT/2K/XP+) batch forum", because WinNT/2K/XP+ only has "Win32 Console" or "Command prompt" instead of "DOS", and also Win32 Console batch is sometimes very different from DOS batch.
