Comment:

I am trying to get a batch file that will autorun from cd and then exit on completion.

There are two files on the cd for this autrun.inf:

"[autorun]
open= test.bat"

and test.bat

"cd MBury
Iread32.exe greyfria.tex !opening2"

This works fine loading the db etc, but try as I might I cannot get the batch file to exit. I did a search on the forum and the advice that was posted didnt help.

Just adding exit doesnt work.

Using Xp but the destination os could be anything.

Is there anyway of saying in dos "once the program is finished loading close msdos window" or even hiding the window.

Cheers in advance

I have a suggestion that may work. Create a shortcut for the batch file and then right click on the shortcut and choose Properties. Then there should be shortcut tab. I remember there's a checkbox that says it will close after executing the file. So check that. Then change the autorun file to run the shortcut - if this is possible. I haven't done this, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not. Give it a try.

Hope that helps.

Kevin.

In case Kevin's suggestion works, be sure to test it on another OS other than XP, since I reckon a shorcut created on XP might not work on other versions of windows.
