Insert DOS disk1 and boot your computer. Read the first few pages of the book that came with MS-DOS. If you don't have the book, go here:

tried dos disk, same message comes up. tried making boot disk, still comes up. i've used dos for years and have formatted hard drives several times and started fresh with a dos disk and never had a problem. for some reason, it is recognizing that there is a drive "A:" but will not accept any command to look there and although the bios is set to go to "A:" first, it just won't do it. i'm not trying to be difficult but it baffles me and reply #2 just reiterates the same thing that I posted at first. any other ideas?
