I have some backup disks, but don't remember exactly what program I used to backup them up.
I have tried MSBACKUP on DOS 6.0, Restore version 2.1, Restore that comes with DOS 6.0, PKUNZIP, DOS TAR. Any body have any other ideas on what backup program to try? Here is dir of the first diskette:

C:\>dir a:\

Volume in drive A is DEFAULT FUL
Directory of A:\

DD51129A 001 1,457,664 29/11/95 14:42 DD51129A.001
1 file(s) 1,457,664 bytes
0 dir(s) 0 bytes free

C:\>

It was created with MSBACKUP/MWBACKUP. (You should have used BACKUP from Dos 5. It's easier to restore.)

First of all, you list your OS as XP. Don't try to do it in XP, do it on a Dos machine. Secondly, it may depend on what dos version you're using:

(# 5 there) That person said dos 6.0 wouldn't recognize a 6.22 backup but I wonder if a 6.22 OS would see a 6.0 backup.

And if this is a disk from a multi-disk backup, you'll likely have to make sure you have all of them (and hope they're still good) before you'll be able to retrieve the files you want. MS-DOS backup generally didn't completely fill a disk unless there were other disks in the backup set, and it'll need the last one for the catalog (index of where each file is located)...

Thanks for the Reply. Turns out I had a bad floppy drive, so MSBACKUP couldn't read the catalog.
