Hi,

I am trying to get a backpack DVD +- RW to work in DOS and have failed on various different attempts. I need to get it enable so I can ghost various machines. Has anyone sucesfully donw this before. It's backpack dvd +- RW model number 224101.

Also it is usb only no parallel port on the external DVD.

USBASPI : Target USB Device not found

then the boot hangs at
USB CD-ROM Device driver Version 1.04
Device Name :USBCD001

Does anyone have any ideas???

Here is my config.sys

DOS=HIGH,UMB
lastdrive=Z
device=HIMEM.SYS
devicehigh=USBASPI.SYS /v /w /u
devicehigh=DI1000DD.SYS
devicehigh=USB_CD.SYS /d:USBCD001


and my autoexec.bat

LH MSCDEX /d:USBCD001

please help.

Ghost 2003 uses these drivers:
aspiohci.sys
aspiuhci.sys

Check your line

devicehigh=USB_CD.SYS /d:USBCD001

Should it be USBCD.SYS ?
and possibly no space between SYS & /d:

My driver is called usb_cd.sys, the space also isn't an issue.

I have used the duse driver aswell, also to no avail.

What version of USBASPI have you used, 1.07, 2.01, 2.06, or 2.15? Also note that USBCD.SYS and USB_CD.SYS could be different drivers. The former one comes from the "Motto Hairu" package, while the latter one is part of the DOS driver for some IBM USB CD drives, which usually hangs while loading on most systems. You can find more information and files about USB drivers for DOS from:
