I have a DOS game called Thanados. Before I clean installed Windows I had no problems. Now when I enter the game sound is barely heard, and when I exit the game I lose all sound completely, and have to reboot to recover it. I have Windows 98se. 600MHZ Pentium 3 256MB Ram. Intel Motherboard with NVidia 16MB graphics and Sound Blaster both on the board. The chipset for the board is 440BX. I am not at all versed in DOS.
Thanks, (phantom)

The Creative Labs web site has DOS-Level application support for DOS MODE, including MIXER and DIAGNOSE utilities. In addition, you may want to edit your Autoexec.bat and include the following statement:

SET BLASTER=Axxx Dx Ix H5 Pxxx T6
where Axxx = I/O Port
Dx = the DMA channel
Ix = the IRQ
Pxxx = the MIDI Port

Check Windows Device Manager and under the properties for the sound card, click the Resources tab and obtain the appropriate port values and add them into the SET BLASTER statement.

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2
SET SNDSCAPE=C:\WINDOWS
This is what is in the autoexec.bat file now. And these values are also in the device manager.

Ps I also tried to put in the Midi port # but when I reboot it isn't there anymore. At one time I wanted to delete the Autoexec.bat, and it just reappeared when I rebooted. I am at a loss!! I will try to find another driver even though Windows says that it is the correct one installed now.
