Hello, I just got a new hard drive put in and I told the techs to have the computer boot from that drive. The only problem is that they did not put anything on the drive to boot from. After putting a boot disk in, I can not find the new drive. If some one could tell me what to do to find the drive, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Matt Jorgensen

Hi, If you have no letter assigned to your hard drive it means the drive is not properly set in BIOS or not partiotioned and formated. First of all you need to install new drive in BIOS. While booting enter Setup (usually you must press Del key for that) and select HDD Autodetection. If autodrtection offers you more then one options for HDD type, select LBA. Save changes. (Alternatively you can select AUTO type in Standard Setup section and in that case BIOS would perform autodetection with every booting, so you can change hard drives without worrying about configuration.) Try to boot from the hard drive. If boot fails boot from your boot disk and check if you have a letter assigned to your drive. If letter is not assigned then you need create partition with FDISK, and then format disk with FORMAT C: /S command. Hope this help. Let me know if more information needed. Good luck, Igor M

Im on a Compaq 7360 I just got a new drive also but i put it in myself. When I went into the bios there's no place to install a new hard drive. My computer knows its in there but It doesnt have a assigned letter. If there's anything i could do please tell me im all ears. Just email me.
