Yeah sure, i got an old 286 PC with only EGA graphics. I'm only running dos on it at the moment, i prefer my old computer than a new one. Reason being because most old games won't work on new computers. I have 450 old DOS games at the moment. See what i mean!!!
DOS RULEZ

I work at a major corporation where I work with three dos-only computers. And, at home I prefer to use DOS, even for websurfing. Why? Because these computers do all that is required of them using DOS, and in my experience, the operating system is much more stable than any Windows versions I've used, is faster, and is far less annoying.

yeah, i use dos whenever possible, my machine uses win9x like win 31 used to work. Ie it boots to dos, and windows exits back to dos.
I work with alot of files and windows is just to slow and restricted, dos is quick, stable, and give me the control that i require over the machine. If you really want to know how the machine works, try learning dos, windows covers up too much.

Every Operating System (much like every computer language) has a place. DOS is very good at certain things and as such people that do those things still use it. It's not a matter of being slow to upgrade. It's a matter of matching an OS with what you do the most. Not everyone feels special showcasing to their friends the latest OS on the latest hardware. Many are content with what they have.

plus it always takes ages for an os to disappear, eg MS are pushing win me but there are still millions of people using win95 and thats 5 years old...
then theres the point that just because ms release new operating systems does it mean we all have to upgrade?

Yes there are still plenty of us using dos. I have a Pentium 380 mhz running dos 6.2 & Windows 3.1 I also have a newer machine running Win 98 & I'll tell you something. I turned both of the machines on at the same time. On the dos/win3.1 computer, booting up was so fast, I had the internet up and going while the Win98 computer was still on the Windows splash screen. Hey it's a hell of alot faster than Win98 and like Mr O said, its quick, more stable, and gives us more control. Not everyone likes the extremely hard task of clicking on cute little icons to get things done. It doesn't take much thought, dont you think? Windows does cover up way to much.

Last night I went to Walmart (a department store, in case you've never heard of it) to buy a replacement battery for my wife's car. The only index they had to find the correct battery was on a computer system set up for the customer's use. The computer was sitting there with an error dialog box that is so faniliar with Windows programs. After screwing around trying to decide from looks, if any particular battery would fit, I went elsewhere and bought one. From my own experience, I would guess if Walmart's computer had been running DOS, I would probably have bought a battery from them.

Well I have to say I have a soft spot for dos too..........It still saves me from total disaster sometimes on my Windows computers....and I still use it to run Drive Imgage Partition Magic etc. Computers were so much simpler in the Dos 5.0 days......which is far back as I go in Dos Days. But I have to say I prefer the new programs for Win ME/Win2k. Im glad there are people out there keeping Dos alive because it does still have merit. It is too bad many companies have completely stopped programming for it.

Happy surfing
:)

Aircraft use DOS

The Navy, Army and Airforce use DOS
(They may not know it)

NASA use DOS

Even the goddamn Shuttle even uses DOS

And I am told the all other sorts of machines use it becouse WinDoze goes to sleep to much!
