Reply: "program too big to fit in memory" is usually an indication that the file has been corrupted. You can try d/l-ing it again. If it is a self-extracting Zip, you can use PKZip (or whatever) to extract the files from the executable - you can also test the integrity of the file - possibly only a few (hopefully unimportant) files are damaged and you can extract the files individually. You'd need to preserve the directory structure, otherwise the files will be dumped wherever you extract them. I'm not sure why you found it necessary to post someone else's lengthy message here - better would be to state the problem in your own words, without all of this extraneous (or so it seems) info.

Reply: i am afraid that is not the case i was able to install this arachne170.exe browser at another machine (not mine) which has a celeron and it is all a new machine but on my machines i get this error messages:

program too big to fit in memory

the reason why i posted older messages containing the same questions was because they stayed posted and unanswered in this forum thanks for your reply... but i still dont know what to do about this browser witch is the only one i could use in DOS i guess...

here is the all thing:

do you want to istall arachne www browser (version 1.70) now (y/n)?
install arachne into "c:\arachne" directory (y/n)?
please wait while extracting 862kb... done.
please wait while unpacking files... ERROR: not enough memory

[archive.exe (882940 bytes)]
[program too big to fit in memory]

[program too big to fit in memory
bad command or file name]

i am having this same problem:

"can someone please tell me where i can download arachne 1.70 in a .zip file instead of the .exe with all the compressed files when i run the exe it tells me "program too big to fit in memory""

"G'day, What base memory do you have-640k?? Do you have any expanded/extended memory? It's a 486, so you shouldn't get any out of memory errors unless you just don't have have physically. Have you configured your system with himem.sys and maybe run memmaker? Give us some more details on your system. If you have any doubts run MSD at the prompt."
