I have a network consisting of an NT 4.0 box talking TCP/IP to several 95 machines via ethernet 10baseT. I would like to add a couple of legacy DOS 6.20 machines to this network so they can access files & printers. Any suggestions where to look for information on how to do this?

I belive "Microsoft Workgroup Add-on for DOS" would work. Where you might find it, I don't know.

Microsoft has DOS clients available from their ftp site.
The one I got and tried was LAN Manager.
The only problem I had with it was it is a memory hog.
You didn't say what kind of machines you were using.
LAN Manager will work with 8086/88 and 286s but 386s would work better because LAN manager can be put in high memory.Let me know if this worked for you.

Ok, the one I got (found out it is available right on the NT cdrom) is Microsoft Network Client for MS-DOS V3.0. I have various ms-dos machines, but the one I tried it on is a 486 and yes it's a memory hog. The dos machines can now access resources on the network, although I haven't figured out how make resourses on the dos machines available for sharing. I think maybe you can't, but I'm not sure of this.

Microsoft Network Client for MS-DOS V3.0 is freely available from microsft. the easiest way to get it s off the NT Server CD. If you don't happen to have it you can download it from microsoft's ftp site. This is only a client and as such you can only map a drive from the dos machine to the other network resources. However I found a site which claims that Msoft made a hot fix for the Windows for Workgroups add-on for MS-DOS which when applied to the Microsoft Network Client for MS-DOS V3.0 instead is supposed to provide server functionality (command line only). Additionally there is supposed to be a GUI that can also be applied. I downloaded the fix but haven't tried it yet. Check the URL below for the article.
