I formatted my C: drive and have tried to
install win98 but the CD drive didn't work
so I put in the floppy with the driver. I
followed the instructions but an error message appeared: command intrepreter not found.Note that I have all my autoexec etc...from a boot disk that I made. Also note that my computer hast two physical hard disks installed. One is C: and the other is D:.
D: is the slave. The CD Rom used to be the E: but it no longer works and I can't access it in Dos.Help Please?
Thanks in advance.

*Sigh*
Download a windows 98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com . The windows 98 bootdisk will have generic drivers that will work for most IDE CDs. Your problem with command interpreter not found sounds like command.com is missing from your bootdisk. Again, just download the bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com and it will have all that stuff.

You have some kind of boot floppy? If you do boot and enter SYS C:. Then boot to C: and install the cd rom driver in a directory. If you have your old config.sys and autoexec.bat files, copy a copy of them to C:. Then make sure the DEVICE line for your cd rom is to the correct directory. That should run your cd-rom after you copy a copy of mscdex.exe to C: and make sure the entry in the autoexec.bat is right. (C:\MSCDEX /D:????001 and not to some directory) (That /D: is an address and should match what ever your cd-rom driver uses in the config.sys.
