Hi, I've got a couple of questions. 1: Is it possible, using tree, to order files alphabetically? 2: I want to connect my dos box to the internet using arachne but need to install and setup tcp/ip but have no idea how to do this, could someone point me to a website with instructions please. Cheers

Arachne:
Dial-up Modem, not a software or WinModem, will be detected in setup of Arachne, though will require your ISP's DNS number, most ISP need to be rquested to supply this as they do not understand DOS Dial-up.
Internet enabled LAN requires a Network Interface Card and associated packet driver, no need for a TCP/IP file sharing network. Support for BOOTP/DHCP no configuration required. If manual IP addressing need the IP, Subnet and Gateway addresses.
Lots of info here and sure X86 would be happy to help: http://www.wmwpms.uklinux.net

Arachne setup should take care of all that, it will detect your network card or modem...it has it's own tcp-ip (or PPP, depending..).. If you have a network card it will load a packet driver for you and after reboot you can finish setup.. a word of warning!! A few Cable ISP's are refusing Arachne hispeed access now by doing an OS check and if it's dos the dhcp won't work anymore.. I don't know the mechanism by which this is done, but you may have to manually enter your network specs for arachne to connect ( if you're not on dial-up)
Summary: hey DoOMsdAY, I've just looked at the 'at' command, and it seems pretty ok. A couple of questions though, like: 1. where do I get the id from 2. Do I just type in 'at .............' at the command ...
Summary: I've got a lot of questions about DOS and older computers, most of them out of curiosity. Ok, first of all, 1.Were the first 386 CPUs (386SX) 16 bit like the 286s, or are all 386s 32 bit? 2.Is it true...
Summary: I've seen a couple of questions from people who were trying to do something like this in NT batch scripting: FOR %%a in (some text) do ( set VAR=%%a echo %%a ) PS: This is only an example, obviously w...
