I have a very old PC for my kids I'm trying to add a 3.25" floppy drive to the system to make it more compatable. I wanted to know how to install new hardware in DOS the system is running DOS 5.0. Also was there a routine way to enter the bios in the olden day's I belive this PC is pre 1990 anywhere from 1987 to 1990 it has a pheonix rom bios and a seagate bios revised in 1990. I can't seem to find the right combination to enter the bios for setup. One more thing is there a site that could offer information on the internal makeup of the older PC's it looks very forigen to me (no cpu fan ) and where is the cpu anyway can I change it?

there is no standard way to get to cmos/bios. As to adding the hardware, you just need a ribbon cable that has the correct end, and an adaptor for the power plug. There is no drivers, etc., it just sets up in cmos/bios. There is no fan, and you probably can not change out the cpu.

On some older machines. BIOS does not support 3.5" drives at all!

Hi
You computer seems to be an old 8088 computer or 8086 with no way to enter BIOX, so it's not possible to add a 3.5 Disk, but you can put a 5 1/4 disk in a newer PC to be able to trasfer files from the old to the new.

We use 8086's at work as dummy terminals, they all run off 3 1/2in boot disks.
