hi, 2 questions:-
1. since reformatting, i've lost my bookmark to a great dos desktop/shell download mentioned in previous posts here. can anyone put me onto it?
2. i've also installed arachne browser. i can access the net in windows, but when i try to dial up in arachne, it gets to the point of handshaking with isp (apparently successfully), but then fails to log in. error message says something about no data packet. any ideas?
actually, i've got more questions , but the others are on the win3.11 forum. i love dos and win3.11, been dying to try them on a pentium, now disappointed with results.
cheers

q1 you could always read thru the old messages.
Why do you want to run win3.11 on a pentium?, i doubt youll be able to appreicate the speed, as win311 is super fast on even a 486-dx66.

re q1. my experience with using search on this site is not good, to say the least.
re the rest. sorry, my other post gives a hint. it's only a pentium 100 (which is what i meant) and the computer is a notebook with no cd-rom drive, so win3.11 was the only thing i could install. as it turned out, it wasn't fast, but that's the other post.
incidentally, if win3.11 is superfast on 486-dx66 (i agree, other than the internet), why not use it on a pentium?? i was hoping the pentium would be faster on the net (better modems, drivers etc).

Maybe you'd like to peruse browsers for Windows 3.1 at:

More browsers and Trumpet Winsock can be found at:

I never had much success with those DOS internet browsers. Trumpet and a mainstream browser for Win3.1 always worked nicely for me.
