I was on a dating site and I was sent pictures of a girl. I opened up something through my email, called Picasa (which I had never heard of or used before) I saw her pictures, but as I kept scrolling. There were tons of pictures that kept appearing. This is not the website Picasa where I know there are tons of pics. It was just a piscasa icon at first followed by a new image each time I scroll with my mouse. There were about 50 images, but each time I would go back and click on that email message there would be new images about half the same and half new.
Most of these pictures were of friends from Myspace. Also there were icon images of programs on my computer like my recording program Cubase. There were also images of people I had never seen before but looked like myspace photos. Also there were images of pornography some that I have clicked on but others that I had not that were under the same website.

I was drunk at a party and a girl I know was asking me if I was saving images of friends from myspace. She was asking me if I had any music recording software and if I look at pornography.

Now this same girl a few months later says she had seen pictures of me that I had taken with a digital camera recently and put on my hard drive. I did not put on of these photos on the internet. What is going on here? She does not have access to my apartment.

Part of it sounds like you 'might' have installed Picasa and it searched your hard drive(s) to find any pictures. It could have saved all the locations in a library for you to peruse.

The other part about the girl seeing your pictures, I have no idea.

Well, I don't use Picass, but I believe it will scan your hard drive for photos and allows you to share to the internet.

Maybe a lot of the photos you are seeing are from your browser cache (i.e. photos that were on a page you visited but didn't pay attention to, which would explain the photos you don't recognize.)

But, it might also be automatically sharing your photos to the web. Google would have no benefit in doing something malicious (they make Picassa). So either 1) You inadvertently selected something as some point to cause this, 2) there is a HGE bug that has not been identified and fixed or 3) Someone "hacked" a version of Picass and it is floating around as an infected version.

Download a trial version of some firewall... maybe Zone alarm or Outpost... install and run for a few days. These firewalls will build a log file of exactly what is going in and out of your machine and you will be able to get a better handle on what's happening.

It sounds as if Picasa accessed your cache. And was sharing them on your network or somethin. Picasa is a photo program from Google. Change the settings so that it doesnt share your pictures over the internet.
