In WMP9 how do you get rid of unwanted listings in the drop-down box (upper right corner)? I only wish to display a folder name created of my own, but none of the (ridiculous) extras that WMP9 lists by default (such as "music tracks I dislike(!) and "Favourites - Listen on A Weekend" (!!!) etc ad-nauseum (are idiots working for MS these days? - what nonsensical listings lol).
I cannot find any facility in the program to delete these unwanted folder names. Yes, you can delete the contents of a folder ("Delete from Playlist and Delete from Library") but it seems not the folder name itself, which remains in the drop-down list. It's very annoying.
I've tried deleting the registry entries as MS suggests (Article ID:243621) but the folder names remain.
Summary: I don't want Microsofts clutter and if I empty my folder, to be able to delete it afterwards.

well, it seems all you whizkids just couldn't help with this one. Not one answer. Does NOBODY use WMP9??
Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that Windows media Player 9 is a dumb-stupid-arse program written by equally dumb-stupid-arse idiots. I mean, what a ridiculous system where you cannot even rename folders, delete them, or save them without the whole dumb\arse wanky program copping-out! And if you accidently double click on an already playing file, the stupid computer launches a new-instance of the player which then freezes my computer! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
Nothing in WMP 9 works logically. The layout is shocking! It's cluttered with crap, it's badly layed out and doesn't follow logical file-handling rules. It just makes you scratch your head and wonder why you just can't figure how the dumb stupid playlist system is meant to work. And that's after 25 years of driving computers.
I HATE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9. AND I HATE WHOEVER WAS THE IDIOT WHO DESIGNED THE PLAYLIST FACILITY. A POX ON YOU - I HOPE YOUR CAT EXPLODES.
I have now abandoned it 'cos it's a great WANKY program.
Instead, I've poured over others that DO have logically working and organised PLAYLISTING and come to the conclusion that MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC will do the job.
The only shortcoming is that you have to organise the order of your songs (or whatever) in a separate directory first (I did this by adding numbers to the front of the filenames), then import all the entries at once. You can't save these entries but at least when you re-open the program they all reappear in the same order, which will do me. And the program does a good job of the video and audio. And it's free.
One last observation: why is it that when you import a filelist, the last file always goes to the top of the playlist, while numsers 2 and higher are arranged correctly in descending order???? BAH!! - another stupid Microsoft bug. But I can live with it.
