Ok. Ive traced the spiking to the wmpnetwk.exe logging to a file called default.log at c:\windows\system32\config\

The files locked so I cant view it. Wont work in Safe Mode either. Is the default.sav in the same folder the appended file or the one called default (has no file extention)? They dont have up to date file modified dates tho except the original default.log.

Is there some way of getting the Windows Media Player Network Sharing to stop logging to the file?

Thanks for any help.

Bill

Should mention. Ive ruled out corrupt video or audio files which can cause spiking.
