Hello all,
I recently downloaded a UT 2007 Trailer in HD format from here
http://files.filefront.com/Unreal+T...
just like many other people.
My CPU is an Intel Prescott 3.2 GHz, 2 MB cache, also I have 2 GB of DDR2 667 MHz, but I cant properly watch this video. And its not the only HD trailer I cant watch. The video and sound stops all the time just like I dont have enough CPU power. Also I dont have any special aplication running in the background.
My CPU is not the latest Intel processor, still it should be decent i think.
So what CPU do I need to properly run such HD video trailers? (and by the way, seems like videogame creators prefere to release trailers in this format lately)
Do I have to buy an $1200 Core 2 Extreme QX6700, Quad Core, 2667 MHz, 8 MB cache?

And the resolution of such trailers is 1280x720. Nice resolution, but who on earth needs that only to watch a grame trailer?
I bet that about 90% of the people that downloaded that video couln't even watch it properly. Waste of bandwidth...

thanks

I do a lot of HD video editing and a prescott is what I first started out with. Although it does not have the power that a core duo (or similar) does... it's plenty powerful enough to play HD.

My guess is that it's either the player that you are using, or the video card. Unfortunately you don't mention the make of either one of these.

I tried with:
Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, VLC (videolan.org), Viplay, GOM Player

Mainboard:
Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA:

CPU:
Pentium 4 460 Prescott 3.2 GHz 2 MB L2 Cache
RAM:
2 GB DDR2 667 MHz
Video Card: Asus Extreme X550 (ATI) PCI-X

For example World of Warcraft works perfect, and with this amount of RAM I can change between wow and a browser for example in 1 second (which wasnt the case when i had 512 MB)
So in any other aspect (than HD videos) is working very nice.
