I downloaded an avi file and tried to play it on Windows Media Player, but it only played the audio and not the video. Then I came to know that it required a codec called "vp3" by On2 technologies. I installed the codec and I've been able to play the video, but it is all distorted and grainy, and hardly viewable. I've tried playing it on other media players as well including GOM player(which plays almost anything) but it's the same. Could anybody please help me get rid of this problem?
I don't think that windows media player is any good with avi's, ive never even tried playing one. a good program to get is real player. it will play 99% of all files. And is pretty small. If you don't like it, get a video converter such as AVI to MPEG Converter and convert it, and you will play it perfectly in WMP
