Videos not convertible to ipod form

I downloaded some videos off the net in .avi format. However they arent playing in windows media player but are playing only in SM video player. As a result these videos are not gettin converted to ipod format so that i can load them onto my apple ipod. Please help !!!!!!!! It took me forever to download those videos and now i cant play them on my Ipod.

Check out Videora Ipod converter (http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/) it's free and quite easy to use. It will convert your avi's to mp4's which is what your iPod can play.
