Hello All,

I am just trying to rip one DVD using http://www.bobsomers.com/articles/dvdmoviefiles.php guide.
When at http://www.bobsomers.com/articles/dvdmoviefiles4.php step I start VirtualDubMod, I get the following error.
Couldn't locate decompressor for format vifp (unknown)
VirtualDub requires video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress this video. Direct show codecs, such as those use by windows media player, are not suitable. Only Direct Stream copy is availble for this video.

Anybody can give me suggestion what is the problem here and how do I solve it?

Don't have an answer for your problem, but have you tried DVD Shrink?

Actually I am not interested in shrinking video but rather ripping it and that is the only reason, I ventured into this.

I tried AutoGK before but its output was bit weird (black band only at the top and not at bottom) so was giving try to this method.

Thanks for your reply anyway

Shrink rips? Yup. Look at mrbass.org. So does dvddecrypter. Try searching for vdub mpg2 version.
